Body Scrubs

Last night the laurels made homemade hand/body scrubs.  We had a lot of fun trying out different scents and came home with smooth, beautiful hands!  Here are the instructions in case anyone else wants to try some at home!

*1 cup epsom salts or sugar --epsom salts are rougher and are best for rough spots like your feet, elbows, etc.  You can use white granulated sugar or even brown sugar which is the softest.
*1/2 cup oil-- We used baby oil but you could also use olive oil, coconut oil, sweet almond oil, or sesame oil. We do not recommend using sunflower oil.  It smells weird.
*Essential oil-- whatever scent you like.  I bought ours at Hobby Lobby.

Mix salt/sugar and oil in a bowl until it is smooth, but not goopy.  Add essential oil (start with 8-10 drops and add more if needed).  Spoon into a glass jar or decorative container.

To use, wet hands slightly.  Scoop a small amount of the scrub onto your hands and rub gently.  For best results, let it sit on your hands for a couple of minutes.  Rinse off with warm water and pat dry.

Here are some recommended scent combinations:
*Pumpkin Pie Scrub: 1 c. brown sugar, 1/2 c. coconut oil, 1/2 tsp pumpkin pie spices (or just cinnamon)
*Vanilla Brown Sugar Scrub: 1 c. brown sugar, 1/2 c. almond oil, 1 tsp. real vanilla extract (could use vanilla essential oils)
*Lemon Hand Scrub: 1 c. white sugar, 1/2 c. olive oil, 15-20 drops lemon or orange essential oil
*Vanilla Lavender Relaxing Facial Scrub: 1 c. white sugar, 1/2 c. almond oil, 1/2 tsp vanilla extract and 15 drops lavender essential oil
