Modest is Hottest!

Last Tuesday we enjoyed a wonderful modesty fashion show put on by Chandrielle, Adrienne, Paige, Rachel and Hannah.  They did a wonderful job demonstrating how we can be modest in all aspects of our life.  Thanks for your hard work and great examples girls!

Color Me Beautiful

Thank you to everyone who helped make our New Beginnings night such a great experience! (Especially all the amazing leaders-- thank you for all that you do!)

We had a wonderful time welcoming new Beehives, honoring those who have completed values (Way to go Kie, Olivia, Azul, and Adrienne!), learning about how the values can add "color" and "light" to our lives, and setting goals for our Personal Progress.

And or course, the candy at the end was an added bonus!

Let's share with each other what goals we set for our Personal Progress. Leave a comment telling us the value you chose and a goal you set to help you achieve it!

Our Camp Auction is April 27th. Follow Danielle's example and start working on something to donate!

Fasting with a Purpose

This Sunday we are inviting all the Young Women to participate in a special fast for Chandrielle.

For the past 6-7 weeks, Chandrielle has been experiencing severe pain in her abdomen. It has prevented her from going to school, church, and participating in other every day activities. Blood work, MRIs, and other tests have not been able to find answers for her.

Please join us this weekend in fasting for her. We will have a prayer together at the conclusion of Young Women on Sunday to end our fast together.

Here are some tips from Elder Shayne M. Bowen of the Seventy on making your fast more meaningful and powerful:

*As a fast day approaches, think about a purpose for your fast. That purpose could be as simple as expressing thanks.

*Begin your fast by praying. Talk with Heavenly Father and share with Him the purpose of your fast (see D&C 59:14).

*Fast for two meals, or about 24 hours. (Those with medical concerns should follow doctors’ orders). Whenever hunger pains come, use them as a reminder to pray again about the purpose of your fast.

*Give a generous fast offering.

*If you feel impressed to do so, bear your testimony in fast and testimony meeting.

*During the time you would have spent preparing food and eating, engage in worthy pursuits such as studying the scriptures, writing in your journal, or serving others.

*After Sunday meetings, end your fast by praying.

*Commit to being a better person, and make plans with God on how you will improve.

Fasting for Chandrielle, in addition to contributing to your family's fast offerings, will help you accomplish Integrity #6 in your Personal Progress.

One More Reason

Here is one more reason to do your Personal Progress...

Beginning in October, we will have a "value basket" set out each Sunday. It will be filled with prizes that correspond to the value color. October's value is Divine Nature, so all the prizes will be blue. In order to pick a prize, you must complete a value experience (or project) in that month's value sometime during the month. Bring your Personal Progress book to church, show it to a leader, and pick a prize. How easy is that?

Open your Personal Progress books and start working on a Divine Nature experience to pass off in October!

The next chance to receive charms and ribbons is New Beginnings, February 8th!

*Each week we will have a Personal Progress challenge that goes along with our Sunday lesson. There is also a monthly challenge (listed on the right side of the blog) that goes along with our monthly value.*
